Cindy's Christmas Quest

 That 1963 Show - Cindy's Christmas Quest.

#It's Christmastime...and there's a need to be afraid...

The only mince pies in this podcast are the ones we cast over music, TV and movies: all years and eras under the tree this time out.

Anyway the fab festive foursome fly Tangent Air once more and unwrap the cultural Christmas touchstones of our respective youths to determine which songs are cracking, crazy or just plain crap.

Oh, and a Very Merry Christmas to all of you at home!

1990 - Movies

This time we have mostly been watching Movies. Craig picks Goodfellas with extra cheese. Lee has had a memory implant and picks Total Recall. Wyn has chosen Tremors, which is nice and Jo recommends a film with lots of men in uniforms, The Hunt for Red October. Fasten your seatbelts for another ride on tangential airways...

2006 - Torchwood Special

After much sloshing about in space/time, the rift has dropped the boys back into 2006 for a special, nay affectionate, retrospective of Torchwood (mainly because we forgot to record it at the time- we were tripping on retcon - mmm, tastes like raspberries...)

Gwen in police uniform, Jack’s arse, Owen’s pouting and Ianto’s coffee are just some of the things we don't talk about in this rambling review of RTD’s 'other' big mid-noughties show.

All is not lost however, as we’re joined by a special, increasingly recurring, guest presenter who does their best (but fails) to rein in the anarchy that is That 1963 Show – the podcast that’s a fixed point in time…which might explain why we don't have a regular release schedule…

1969 - Movies and Music

Broadsword calling Danny Boy!
This time around the boys look at the movies and music of 1969. Warning! Due to a technical error Matt Bianco appears in this podcast. I'm so, so sorry.
The music you can hear is:
Here Comes the Sun / The Beatles / Abbey Road
Oh Well / Fleetwood Mac / Then Play On
Aquarius - Let the Sunshine In / The 5th Dimension / Age of Aquarius

1969 - The Impossible Booze Up

Just in time (ahem) for the start of the second half of series 6 of Doctor Who the boys take a butchers at the first half. We also take a trip down amnesia lane and play some excerpts from recordings made at the series 6 premiere party at the One Tun pub in old London Town. These were recorded in a busy pub so sound quality varies - you have been warned.
Caution! Alcohol may have been involved.
A huge thanks to Rob, Tony, Jo and Sophie for allowing us to stick a microphone in their faces and press record.
The music in this episode:
I Want to Take You Higher - Sly and the Family Stone (album - Stand)
Good Times Bad Times - Led Zepplin (album Led Zepplin 1)
The End - The Beatles (album Abbey Road)
All classic albums from 1969 and well worth your consideration.

2006 Special Pull Out Section - Life on Mars

It's 1973 and we're 'avin 'oops

Welcome to the first That 1963 Show special (or episode six - like we have a release schedule!) which focuses on the saga that is Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes with a very special guest, who now can't get it wrong (hint, hint*) she leaves that to the rest of us.

Metaphysical discussion and debates on the way British society has changed over time are just two of the things you won't hear here. Perv alerts over PC Annie, Alex Drake and Ford Cortinas, yes. Fun, yes. Gene Hunt quotations, yes. Sensible, no.

So sit back, wear your flares and wing collar shirts (and then change half way through into leggings and pixie boots) and enjoy.

(* OK, it's the lovely Jo from the Flashing Blade podcast.)

2006 Part One

Ahoy there. It's part one of our review of 2006. This time around Craig, Lee and Wyn say farewell to a much loved companion when we look at School Reunion, and Wyn just doesn't get it when we look at Genesis of the Bond, aka Casino Royale.
The closing music is by Joe Cornish, from the Adam and Joe BBC 6 Music show, called the Sontum of Qualace.

1999 Part Two

1999 part two sees the boys celebrating the return of a bearded icon to our cinemas with the continuation of a beloved move franchise. Elsewhere, an old friend is sneaked out of the cupboard to chat through the return of another SF favourite.

Picking over the cd racks, Lee steps out of his comfort zone with Prince's 1999 album (not what you think), while the others ride their hobby horses into the ground.

Next time out will be 2006. We're accepting audio feedback if you'd like to add a review of music, movies or TV (which might also mean the next one gets out before the rapture...

1999 Part 1

Perv alert! Perv alert! 1999 is the focus for the boys this time around when they pick over the bones of King Arthur in 'Battlefield' simultaneously igniting the UNIT dating controversy while paying tribute to the late great Nicholas Courtney's last classic Who appearance. Jean Marsh and Sylvester McCoy also get a mention while Lee and Wyn Perv over Sophie Aldred and Craig pervs over Bessie. Also Lee pulls 100 Bullets, Batman: No Man's Land and Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen from the comic box. Too much for one 'cast, we continue in 1999: part two when music and films will be the topics. Don't forget to leave feedback at or visit the Facebook group.

BBC Rip off 'That 1963 Show'

So, it takes the boys months to release their carefully crafted 1976 effort and what do the BBC do? Steal the idea with their vastly superior audio/visual resources to make us look like amateurs!

Oh, hang on....

Epsiode 2 is out

OK – you asked for it, so you’ve got it. Well, alright, you didn’t ask for it, but here it is anyway. The second ever “That 1963 Show”.

This time around we’re looking at 1976, and cover amongst other things, Rocky, The Omen, the general naffness of pop music in 1976, and generally perv about Jenny Agutter.

We also look at The Deadly Assassin and query whether there is a more oxymoronic title in the world of Doctor Who and Lee also looks at Action Comic.

There’s also a review of Queen – A Night at the Opera from a very special guest.
